Purpose, Mission, and Vision Statements

Purpose: Support the Jefferson County Democratic Party in their service to the people of Jefferson County.

Mission: Through advocacy, education and programming, initiatives, communications, promotion, fundraising, special events, and the enlistment of members.

Vision: To become the preferred political party for the majority of Jefferson County residents.

Definitions of Mission Statement

Advocacy: Speaking out publicly to advance agendas in support of state and local Democratic ideals and the issues supporting them.

Education and Programming: Bringing together Alliance members and the community to provide knowledge about topics that can enhance the well-being of residents and their environment.

Initiatives: Presenting purposeful campaigns to advance concepts that support the Alliance and/or the local Democratic Party agenda.

Communications: Maintaining contact with Alliance and Party members to keep them informed of Alliance and/or Party activities, agendas, and initiatives.

Promotion: Raising the visibility of the Alliance and/or the Party during non-election periods to achieve some goal(s) or to support an agenda.

Fundraising: Raising money to support JCDA and the Alliance by means of person-to-person solicitation, direct mail and other accepted practices.

Special Events: Conducting activities that are designed to build a cohesive culture, identify new members, and raise money.

Member Enlistment: Identifying, cultivating, and enlisting new members for JCDA.

Historically, the Jefferson County Democratic Party has been supported by a women's auxiliary group. This group did so much amazing work in the form of fundraising and canvassing, and disbanded during the pandemic when meeting was uncertain.

When current Founder and Executive Director Treva Shelton met with Founding Members Cami Keltch (Co-Chair), Julie Patterson (Co-Chair), Jennifer Scott (Secretary), and Sue Patterson (Treasurer), the group decided to form a group that embraced the Democratic values of inclusivity and diversity and welcome members of all genders.
